If you’ve been hooked on Les Miserables on the BBC, then you might want to plan a trip in 2019 to the island where Victor Hugo penned the novel. Hugo wrote his masterpiece from his eccentric home high on the cliffs above St Peter Port here in Guernsey, where he lived in exile for 15 years from 1856. Hauteville House is due to re-open in April after a £2.7 million renovation.
